Ash Grove’s Durkee Plant Hosts Classic Car Show

Our Durkee, Oregon plant recently had a lot to celebrate after achieving an outstanding participation rate in the annual CRH employee feedback survey. As an incentive, plants that reached a certain participation percentage were granted a budget to host a team appreciation event.

For the Durkee team, this meant going all out with a classic car show featuring over 25 Model T automobiles courtesy of the Franklin Westrek Car Club. The plant rolled out the red carpet, inviting the Franklin Westrek members to a learning session about Ash Grove's cement manufacturing process. The guests enjoyed a presentation on-site before boarding buses for a guided tour through the plant and quarry led by Ash Grove staff.

While the car enthusiasts were getting an inside look at cement production, Durkee plant employees were treated to a good old-fashioned tailgate party. The festivities included:

- Cornhole games

- Ax throwing stations

- Live music from a local artist

- Raffle Prizes

The Durkee Community Corps catered the event, providing an excellent tailgate lunch for the plant team. This local women's group raises funds through catering to support the Durkee Community Center.

To commemorate the celebration, all employees received Durkee-branded swag bags with igloo coolers, insulated water bottles, hats, and koozies. The Franklin Westrek guests were also gifted logoed water bottles as a thank-you.

Jason Morgan, a local military veteran, flew his drone to capture aerial footage and photos of the classic car show with his service dog Bosa. These memories will allow the Durkee team to reflect on a fantastic day of celebrating their achievement with their community.
